Pyrography is where I get to do something completely different. Instead of paint or pastels I am using heat to burn designs into natural wood and the results have a warmth and character that you just cannot get any other way.
These panels showcase different subjects all created with a pyrography pen on smooth wood. The tones are controlled by temperature and speed — slower burning gives darker marks while a quick light touch gives pale golden lines.
I love the smell of the wood as you work and the way every piece of timber has its own grain pattern that becomes part of the artwork. No two pieces are ever quite the same which makes each one truly unique.
