Street Scene

Urban scenes have their own kind of beauty and this street painting captures the atmosphere of a bustling town centre. The buildings, the people, the sense of life and movement.

I used acrylics and kept the brushwork quite energetic to suggest the bustle of the street. The figures are suggested rather than detailed which gives the whole scene a sense of movement. The buildings provide the structure and the architecture is painted with more precision to ground everything.

I like the contrast between the solid permanent buildings and the fleeting figures passing through.
