David Bowie

Bowie is the ultimate subject for a portrait painter. The man reinvented his look constantly and every era gives you something completely different to work with.

I went with the classic Ziggy era look for this acrylic painting — the lightning bolt and the fiery hair. The colours are bolder than my usual palette because Bowie demands it. You cannot paint Bowie in muted tones — it would be wrong.

The expression is intense and confident which is pure Bowie. Another music icon piece and one that always gets comments when people see it. Rock and roll and art — they belong together.
