Preston Docks

This one is close to my heart. Preston Docks is right on my doorstep and I must have walked along there hundreds of times over the years. There is something about the way the light hits the water on a still morning that I have always wanted to capture.

I used acrylics on canvas for this piece, building up the sky with soft blends of grey and blue to get that classic Lancashire atmosphere. The reflections in the water took a bit of patience — lots of thin layers to get the depth right without it looking overworked.

It is a 16 by 12 inch piece and one I am really proud of. If you know Preston you will recognise this view straight away.
