There is nothing more English than a row of country cottages with climbing roses and a winding lane. This painting is pure nostalgia and I loved every minute of creating it.
I used acrylics and spent a lot of time on the stone walls and rooftops getting those subtle colour variations that make old buildings look authentic. The gardens are a riot of colour which contrasts nicely with the muted tones of the stone.
It is the kind of scene that makes you want to walk right into the painting and have a cup of tea in one of those cottages.
